I stayed 10 nights at this hotel. Not sure what to make of this hotel. We arrived 1pm for check in and we were told that the room was not ready as it needed to be cleaned. We left our luggage and went to town. We came back 2 hours later only to be told the room still wasn't ready. We had to wait another 30 minutes before room was finally ready. Location around the hotel is not great but once inside the hotel grounds, things look better. The food was very good and room service too. The room size is impressive. Many times, there was no water in the cistern to flush the toilet and one had to resort to filling up a bucket with water from the shower to flush. The bathroom walls are full of holes. The curtain rails and window ledges are thick with dust. Some of the guests are suspect. Twice I tried to relax in the outside lounge area and people were there smoking marijuana with the resultant pungent smell. The hotel staff just let this go on. The AC woke us up every time with very loud noises. I brought this to the attention of front desk but nothing was done. . If the same person or persons own the Ikeja and Victoria Island Galpin hotels , then they need to go and train with the Victoria Island staff and management. The Victoria Island service is a lot better. Some guests at this hotel were always hostile for no apparent reason and this calls to question the hotel's clientele base. While I would be happy to stay again at the Victoria Island Galpin Suites, I would not be returning to the Ikeja Galpin Suites
