It’s not just the physical sight of the walls that are impressive, how old the walls actually are is amazing. It was built in the year 1095 - 1134 and completed in the middle of the 14th century, that's almost 1,000 year ago. The Ancient Kano City Wall was built to provide security for the city with 15 gates (Kofar) that were used to control the movement of people in and out of the city.
The ancient Kano City Wall, during those days, did not only serve as a fortress of protection to the people of Kano, it was also a source of pride to them. I mean look at it!
Unfortunately, most of them are largely in ruins, they have not been maintained through the years.

The ancient walls of Kano are very historical pre-colonial and even during the colonial era.

They still stand today as a monument of the history of the Great and Ancient City of Kano.

Easy to locate. No fee is required.
Try the rich but very cheap zobo and ginger drinks sold just beneath the wall gate. The seller is very friendly, though there was language barrier, he was helpful in putting me on a tricycle for my next destination.
The wall is originally made of mud, the relics extended a bit.
There was no one to guide or tell the history. Just read about it online, come to see and take pictures.

This an old Gate and Wall Over many years, the wall build with Soil it ring the whole city of kano with big water cavity behind the whole and its cover with with strong iron Gate which no one can can Opened it self

The gates and the walls were built since 15th century, they were design to protect the city from the enemies abroad. Also as a form of security regulations. Its a beauty .
