It’s an international airport with offices of some African/Middle Eastern airlines located in spaces around. Clearly defined parking spaces and a covered waiting area outside. In the local wing, the general seating area toilet is a literal mess with water all over the ground from people doing ablution for prayers. It’s much better in the checked-in section but still leaves much to be desired. They should maybe make ablution areas separate from general restroom area. You can only find snack shops here, no actual food unless you want to settle for street food sold around the airport perimeter outside. Totally not conducive for long wait periods.

Aminu Kano International Airport is the 1st such airport in the northern part of the country from pro-independence days.
I have not been here very often, and the local part needs to be upgraded like the International part is being done presently.

I'm in my way to Lagos by one of the local airlines, and we took off on time although those booked for 7.20am by the same airline were delayed and joined with us. One can only imagine their anguish.

Six weeks after my last visit, the Domestic wing of the airport is using the more spacious and modern International Wing, which had moved to a newly constructed modern section.

The airport is well organized and the staff are coordinated, which is what you'll expect from any airport. The environment is serene.
At the domestic arrivals there are several taxis available to take you to final destination in Kano.
There are also businesses and Zenith Bank branch directly opposite the airport with ATM machines, in case you need cash.

New airport built by Chinese company CCECC. Quite chinese style.
Maybe Kano has the best customs in Nigeria- not that much hassles for unnecessary inspections. Also much more friendly

The Airport has been upgraded to 5 star Airport, in my opinion . Smooth tiles , wide corridors , cool and clean air , clean floors .
The staff are very helpful and competent .
There are some duty free shops ,including Nigerian souvenirs and art works We've had a lovely experience.

The local wing is uninspiring... A big hall with nothing interesting to do. A few local commercial shops that were not properly planned. The signage are large but Horrible. Small TVs . The preflight experience is forgettable.

Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport has three terminals - one local and two international terminals. There are ample parking spaces available in all the terminals with more than adequate security facilities. There are a number of restaurants that serve good food and snacks within the airport. There are also two banks with several ATM points within the airport. High standard strict COVID19 protocols are put in place for all travellers, visitors and workers within the airport. There are several well maintained restrooms located within the facility, however the airport management needs to improve on the cleanliness of the toilets at the arrival section of the local terminal.
