It's not called the national eye centre for nothing. People come from around the country for expat consultation. A well equipped centre with modern machines and highly qualified consultants. What I really like most is their level of professionalism and customer relationship. I do wonder if the CMD had a customer relationship training for all the staff. They are always willing to listen and render assistance. Another great thing about them is a very high degree of timeliness, don't be surprised to see a staff already in duty by 7, 7:30 am, sorting cards, giving numbers, etc. This is different from most hospitals I have been to where they don't start till 9, 10am.
They resume on time isn't a guarantee that you will go home on time anyway. The centre is usually very crowded and if you are not the first 15 or 20 at your clinic, be ready for a whole day at the eye centre. This can be very tiring and frustrating.
At the eye centre you can be assured of comprehensive care, they perform surgeries, issue glasses, and manage life long conditions. Besides the consultants, they also have resident doctors and as I stated before, they are surprisingly very friendly. Besides asking critical questions, I do have lively chats with them as they examine my eyes. I once asked a doctor to find time to go get a meal as she was obviously tired and hungry. It's not an easy job see patients non stop from morning till evening.
So is the eye centre a perfect place? Definitely not as people do prefer to go see private doctors for the convenience. But in terms of affordability, it would be hard to beat the eye centre. Don't get me wrong, the services are standard but it is not a very convenient place to visit due to the number of people they attend to. A visit to the eye centre is in most case a whole day's activity.
