First stay there were some issues with cleanliness, particularly with the bathroom being so wet, which required the purchase of a personal mop but otherwise it was good enough for a Nigerian hotel in a small city to try on a second visit.
However, the room we called a day in advance for was not available on arriva, even after placing a second confirmation call an hour before getting there. A substitute was being cleaned while we sat for over 20 minutes in the car with small children. We decided to go into town to let them use the restroom and eat and were told to deposit some money for the room or we would lose it. We handed them the money without receiving any room number, room key, print out or even a receipt. Less than 20 minutes later we returned to let them know that we had just received some news and had to travel back to Bauchi immediately and needed the money back. This didn't seem like it would be an issue since we were never assigned a room. The room was neither ready nor had we received any receipt of payment, room key nor had we off loaded our luggage. While we expected the money back right then and there were told that we could only be refunded a few days later, we left our account number. Now we are receiving stories. And 3 days later have received no refund. The staff and by extension the hotel owners have been nothing but fraudulent in handling the matter.
Update: the crooks that run this hotel are yet to return the money they effectively stole from us.
Do not take anything at face value at this hotel. Be sure to verify every before parting with a cent of your money.
