The University College hospital (UCH) was located in Ibadan, the largest city in West Africa which is also the seat of the first University in Nigeria.
The physical development of the Hospital commenced in 1953 in its present site and was formally commissioned after completion on 20 November 1957.
The University College Hospital, Ibadan was initially commissioned with 500-bed spaces.
Currently, the hospital has 850 bed spaces and 163 examination couches with occupancy rates ranging from 55-60%.
The hospital had two clinical Departments (Medicine and Surgery).
However, the hospital has evolved to accommodate about 65 Departments among which is the first Department of Nuclear Medicine in Nigeria.
In addition to undergraduate medical programme (Based in the College of Medicine of the University of Ibadan), the UCH also provides for: Postgraduate Residency Training Programmes in all specialties of Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics u0026 Gynecology, Pediatrics, Otorhinolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Anesthesia, Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology, Laboratory Medicine, Psychiatry, Community Medicine, Family Medicine, Radiology, Radiation Oncology, Neurological Surgery and Dentistry.
The University College Hospital also provides diploma /professional programmes in the School of Health Records u0026 Statistics, Environmental Health Officers Tutors Course; Primary Health tutors Course, Nurse/Midwife/Public Health Nurse, Nurse Tutors Course, Post registration Courses in nursing e.g. Peri Operative nursing and Occupational Health Nursing.

Big lovely space. But that's only to be expected from the first and the best. I came here to get my COVID-19 vaccine and although they had run out, all the staff were very helpful. There are also many wastebins in place which is why there is next to zero littering. I am so impressed honestly.

Very big hospital with capable hands in health issues. One good thing I admire here is that they work as a team. A patient with special case is easily referred to and seen by different doctors in different specialized fields. There are banks within the premises and worship centres (churches, mosques) in it. Different schools (nursing, midwifery etc.), are located there in. A wide range of diseases are treated there.

My sister inlaw die in this hospital two days ago , I don't understand the reason the staff will be watching Big Brother Naija in intensive care area while people are dying. I know that Nigerian don't have good hospitals the only thing they care is money

University College Hospital (UCH Ibadan) is a teaching Hospital of University of Ibadan Ibadan Nigeria. UCH Ibadan is arguably, one of the best Hospitals in Africa. The Hospital is very big with various departments/units. Their Staff are very professional and well trained. The Hospital is located in the heart of Ibadan very close to the State Government Secretariat.

i visited the physiotherapy department in the very large college hospital complex and extensions.

the physiotherapists were very prompt in assisting and attending to all my need.

the payment process is somewhat lengthy but the registration seems swift.

at my first appointment (my second visit), my file was swiftly located u0026 the physiotherapists attended to me promptly... nevertheless, there was no power supply to power the infrared machine needed for heating.

in summary, i feel this is an organised health care facility, based on my experience... i am not certain what it's like at other departments.
