This place offers value for money. You can take a decent vacation on a reasonable budget.

For all the facilities available here, there is no way you won't get value.

We got a superior double room and requested an extra bed for our child.

Beautiful nature environment, very polite u0026 accommodating staff, well prepared restaurant food both Nigerian u0026 Western. I gave 3 stars for the room simply because the furniture u0026 appliances are very outdated. Our flat was cleaned every day and white towels replaced every 2-3 days. Efficient laundry service is free as long as does not exceed 25 pieces per week. The Security staff is 100% vigilant. We stayed at IITA for a total of 3 months. I must add that my husband had a medical emergency during our visit due to a pre-existing condition. He was expertly treated by 3 family physicians in the onsite Medical Center. The Center is well equipped with an onsite laboratory for quick test results. Medical assessment, proper medication and a caring staff allowed us not to have to make a premature departure from the country. We can never stay in any other place in Ibadan.

My experience at IITA was amazing. Starting from my first day up until my last night. I’m not sure the difference between the IITA Hotel, and IITA Ibadan, as I’d already left my review on there.

However, I lodged in the double AC room for six nights. This means double bed with one AC. There was a balcony in my room, which made the whole experience, beautiful. I worked from the balcony once, and started working from the snack bar and other places afterwards.

There’s a lot to do here when you come. I came alone because I wanted some time to myself, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

There’s a complementary breakfast every morning from 6 to 8:30AM. Sometimes, breakfast goes on until 9 or past 9. Dinner is at the snack bar. I must say I didn’t have a great experience with dinner, because I kept having the same food - Basmati rice with chick peas. The Jollof rice wasn’t great when I had it, which was also the same thing I experienced my first time here in June. I could taste the spice in the rice. On my last night, they flunked my order at the Snack bar. I ordered my usual order -Basmati rice with Chick Peas sauce, and the meal they brought didn’t taste like it. The rice was soggy and tasted very regular, and the chick peas was more sweet corn, baked beans in ketchup than chick peas. For a meal that expensive, I should have gotten more than a sorry. Also, my heater didn’t work on the last night, and I had to boil water with an electric kettle the house keeper brought to my room.

My last night wasn’t fun, but the other experiences made everything worthwhile.

I recommend walking through the residential driveway, and going to the lake, the pond. There are many sights you’ll want to see.

Also, I want to mention that the clinic is expensive. Consultation fees was $60, but I guess it’s because if the sort of clientele they serve. I recommend they partner with health insurance companies to lessen the burden of having to spend a lot on medical fees for natives.

I would visit again.

Beautiful and well kept greenery. It is a good tourist destination safely tucked in Ibadan.

You need to have an extra dose of patience to book at IITA.
The employees are not friendly or willing to go the extra mile.

I booked 2 months ahead and when I checked in, the keys were not working.
Housekeeping closes by 8pm and resumes by 8am ????. I was stressed within the first 24 hours I stayed there.

Visitors are not allowed which is good for guests safety I guess.
The toilet has too much water in it, it’s scary.

IITA

The location and scenery

Ibadan is said to be on over 1000 hectares of land with 350 used as a secondary rain forest because several (40) villages were dispersed and cultivation and taken place prior to iita acquiring the land. This place is home to over 453 species - 40 mammals, 220 butterflies. This place is home to ibadan mandalay bird - a specie of bird only found in Ibadan. Animals are in their natural habitat and nobody is permitted to touch, pluck or hunt.

Of course, this place isn’t just a “forest” and a research institute as the name implies, it also houses guest rooms, conference centers etc. known for the scenery and beauty, guest are allowed to lodge however, prior reservations are mandatory. It’s also normal to see many foreigners in places like this.

Other amenities : squash place, golf( free but you may have to pay for the golf equipment) man made lake ( very good for picnics and proposals) gym, forest tours (N2,500)etc

The accommodations and food

The rooms are generally affordable ranging from 22k- 35k. not state of the art but clean and well maintained and comes with breakfast (buffet style). The food and drinks are affordable.

The last time I was here about 8 years ago, they gave us complimentary cassava biscuits which I was totally looking forward to but alas they no longer.

Overall, I really loved this place. Unfortunately, I took more videos and pictures of myself which i will rather not share. It’s a good place to relax and forget the troubles of this world. I particularly loved the fact that I took long walks everyday in a peaceful and tranquil environment.
