They have the best medical brains in the region but are also highly inefficient. There is no such thing as emergency in their books. Health care service here is too ‘clumsy’ and disorganized. Some of the staff are too rude and reluctant. If management can sensitize the staff to be more professional and courteous, no medical institution will come close to UBTH. They should also work on softening the bureaucracy of the place in times of emergency.

It is a teaching hospital. I admire the fact that, for you to be placed on a particular treatment, you will have to undergo series of tests. This is usually carried out to find out what the problem is.
The hospital has various departments that address diverse cases.
Here, one needs to be very outspoken for your case to be attended to promptly.
In addition, I will not deny the fact that the hospital still needs improvement in some of its services.

I almost lost my life when I gave birth to my first child here due to negligence of the doctor, he injected me with tramadol despite the fact I was already in labour

Recently went to UBTH from Lagos to have a minor biopsy surgery, the first thing that strikes me as i was waiting to see a consultant was how organized the whole process is, the crowd management is far far better to what we are used to in Lagos general hospitals
there were about 6 doctors available for general consulting alone and the nurses were really professional.
But the biggest surprise for me has to be the Au0026E Dept, it is a totally different place from what i used to know when i was a UNIBEN student back in 2007.
the crowd and rush is still there but you don't get to see sick or bleeding patients along the halls awaiting treatment.

in summary, i was so impressed by the lead-time it takes to see a doctor and get treated at UBTH. you can walk in, see a doctor and get a date for your surgery/treatment same day. its something we in Lagos know nothing about.

UBTH shares boundary with the main campus of University of Benin. It's main entrance is located about 500 metres from Uniben main gate. UBTH has several departments, and it's a major hospital in Edo state and the region.

A solid 8/10 hospital with dedicated laboratories and nice staff. Road infrastructure though isn't so nice and they need better and flashier signs and ways to direct people around the hospital premises
