Great constructed bridge over the River Niger for all vehicle type. Usually busy with more holdup at morning and evening rush hours.
Beautiful view on the other side from the Oil company

Even if this bridge was built in 1920, it was still a very bad design as at then. I don't see why it was built as a lane road with no demarcation. Even the San Francisco bridge built in 17 Century has 10 times better plan. Then the FRSC and Navy choose to cause more traffic woes just at the mouths of the bridge. How do they even allow commercial bus drives to load on this bridge?

The onitsha Bridge, sometimes called the river Niger Bridge is a beautiful well constructed bridge used to cross over to anambra. It gives you this beautiful scenery that you can't forget easily. There's usually traffic on the bridge and I head drivers need to be careful of roadside thieves. A NEW bridge is under construction not far from it., at the end of the bridge are police blockade.

This is the gateway between Delta and Anambra state,is also a link between the Eastern Nigeria and South which extended to the western Nigeria. The Traffic in Evenings is serious especially when it rains. I spent almost 1hr on the bridge and it wasn't funny as i ways always not the out look for my safety. Overall ,i think another bridge is needed to easy off this traffic

The Onitsha bridge is a carriageway joining Delta and Anambra states of Nigeria.
Design wise, I would say the design is below average, although some people claim that's because it is old. The bridge has just one lane which is too small for one that serves as a major route for commuters between the Western and South-Eastern Region of the country. The traffic congestion was slightly heavy when I was there and it was sure to be worse during some other hours of the day, evenings to be specific.
Even the Lokoja bridge is wider than this not to talk of Onitsha that is a major commercial destination in the South but I think there is another bridge (can be seen from the bridge) under construction that should accommodate more vehicles and provide a better traffic flow.

Constant traffic on this bridge from the Asaba end of the bridge to the point where road safety officials are doing their work.

It is a two lane bridge at this time without separation between incoming and outgoing vehicles.

The view is great.

One of the longest bridges in Nigeria with proper renovation required or a second bridge should be constructed to support it as proposed by the Nigerian government.

It is not optional to use.

In order to drive or cross into the South East by road, I highly recommend it as there is no place else to cross from the South West, South South into the South East.

This bridge is the entrance to Anambra state. Spanning over the historic River Niger, this bridge is very prone to traffic congestion.

On one end is Asaba, Delta State and the other is Onitsha Anambra state depending on where you are coming from.

It always give me good memories and reminds me that I am home.
